The glass on the inside of my tank has a few scratches and some green algae is now filling up in the cracks.

I can't seem to get it off - I've tried the magnetic cleaner, wiping with a cloth and even a razor - but nothing will shift it. There's not a great deal of it there, and I certainly don't have a problem with it (in terms of water quality), but what little there is looks bad as it is on the front viewing side of the glass.

Do you have any tips on cleaning off stubborn algae? Looking forward to your replies, thanks.

by a pleco they only £4 and they will at it all of within 30mins-1hr because they love eating them andthey and herbivoes

I have found that a clean terry cloth rag works wonders for algae that gets down into the scratches in tanks. Must have something to do with the texture...

you cant just advise to buy a plec if you havent said/ asked about tank size.

use a scourer or a kitchen cloth.

The tank is 46 gals and I already have a bn plec and a sucking loach - neither are interested in cleaning the glass!

any other ideas?

i find a clean old toothbrush or one bought for the purpose works wonders in corners and scratches and stuff
scot :)

toothbrush or nailbrush
i dont really get much algae and any i get i leave as long as its not on the front glass - my baby apple snails (got over 400 in one tank now) eat the algae off the glass ( the adults eat some aswell but the babys spend all day munching it )
