IME limiting the light does a lot to remove brown algae contrary to what I've heard from several sources. I left the lights off for 3 days and my brown algae completely disapeared. It was previously covering the whole back wall of the tank and many of the fake plants. Anyways that still seems like a useful site. Thanks for the info.
