Algae In My Betta's Tank

if you havent taken it down all ready try putting in a sponge filter that way you can start your cycle easier as the sponge will pick up the good bacteria but once youve taken it out keep it in conditioned water or the bacteria will die off.

Okay, I went to Petsmart and bought some scrubbers and aquarium cleaner, and I'll clean the whole tank later today. I'll try to find some of the gravel that doesn't have a lot of algae on it to save to start the bacteria growth again.

What's a sponge filter? I probably won't get one now, because I don't want to drive back to Petsmart, but could you tell me what it is for future reference?
