you may have read my "disaster recovery thread" posted this morning. the only left over algae (apart from a bit of hair algae) is this one but i've never seen it before it's deep red in colour. what is it???

looks like it belongs in a marine tank???????????

thanks for that, looks like i need to either dose micro ferts or soak the wood in bleach.

ferts coming out then. see how it goes

Could be some form of brush algae. I've heard people claim to have success by upping CO2 to 30 mg/l. It's often seen in tanks with fluctuating CO2. Having seen your other thread ...........it's a possibility.

Good luck!

thanks paul but it's more like a red hair algae rather than a slimy film. i think iggy01 may be right. it's only that single clump at the moment and luckily on mopani wood. i'll give it a scrub and see what happens.

thanks
