All stats fine temp 26.

One of my females had the start of pop eye, consulted my LFS where he gave me myxazin. Its a 5 day course today is the 4th day. Yesterday put the usual dose in thinking nothing of it. . her eye is back to normal nearly already.

Fed them live brine shrimp and everyone seemed fine and well. . . we left for an hour or so and on coming home our 2 albino algae eaters were floating. The smallest dead the big one fighting. Took it out and put it in a small tank to stop the bettas trying to eat him but it was too late.

Totally stumped on this one, the rest of the tank are fine all happy and look heathy well apart from one betta.

What could it have been the myxazin? something the betta has? i dont understand why it didnt happen before now, surely if they were haviung a reaction to the meds i would have seen some different behaviour when i added it each day?

did you added anything else on the water?
like tonic salt?

No nothing else was added.

my theory is that the shrimp you fed reacted with the medication and caused the death.
is this the first time you fed shrimps with medication in?

It was yeah. . but only the algae eaters were affected??

There is also minnows, neon, swordtails, bettas, a plec and rainbows. All of which are fine?

I take it it may have been the solution the brine shrimp were in??

maybe the algae eaters are the most sensitive to the chemical reaction that happened or maybe they ate most of the shrimps.

TBH they werent interested in them, id also say that 99% of them got eated when i put them in the bettas rarely leave any food lying about for long.

it might have been the solution where the shrimps are in then as you suspected.

Just contacted the store i got both the myxazin and brine from. Both have been used in there tanks and are fine. They have also used both in the Algae eater tanks they have. They too are stumped.

how about your water stats?
are the readings ok when you put the medication in?

I checked last night and they were the same. Going to take a sample to be checked at the store to make sure it isnt my kit. I would have thought it would have affected the pleco also tho if it was a problem with the water.
