Hi, I have a 75 gallon tank sitting in my sunroom. It is well protected from the sunlight, however, has an overgrowth of algae. I do a 10% water change every other month, and use an algae scraper faithfully. Still algae almost as soon as I clean it off. Are there any tropical fish out there that prefer greens???

Hi - I have a biorb tank & have recently had issues with algae in the tank. It is no-where near a window & it has only its own LED light each day. I used to do a part water change every 2 weeks - but due to the algae I now do a par water change once each 7 days. This has helped alot! Try doing a water change each week for the next 4 weeks & see if this has a diiference. :good:

Sorry - I forgot to say, Ive bought a sucking loach for my tank & he's forever seeking out algae. Hes a bottom dweller although he does try further up the tank at times but he seems happiest at th bottom... try one.

You do realise that they grow to be ~10cm and when they grow up they stop eating algae and can become aggressive.

If you want something to eat algae then the ottocinclus does an excellent job, remains small and perfect for a community aquarium. You could also try the Siamese Algae Eater, but make sure you are sold the right one as they are easily confused with look a likes, these will also eat thread algae.

For your sized tank I'd say 8 ottocinclus would clean it up in no time.
