Proposed tank size and filter been used may help, dont keep to oscars togther like MM47 says unless you have a 2 that have already paired up as well as a 100+ gallon tank

well i have never owned an oscar before, but i did take care of a pair for my friend's dad a couple years ago, they lived though it just letting you know :)

and i was only considering one in the 65 gallon that is now just taking up space not doing anything. what other fish are compatible with oscars?

TBH m8 nothink in a 65gallon.. the tank would be overstocked with just the oscar :)

This isnt a snap at you m8, but i can put an oscar in a 20 gallon tank and it will LIVE but doesnt mean it is suitable or happy ;)

dang really? even by itself?

well i guess that dream is dead since the tank would be too small lol.

hmm any suggestions of something to put in it? done community fish before so looking for something new :D !!!!

I think minimum recommended for 1 oscar is 75g and a very OTT filter, they produce HUUUUGGGEEEE! amounts of waste :p

There are plenty of other cichlids which are much nicer looking than oscars m8 but ill let the cichlid experts recommend some for you ;)

What are the dimensions of the tank ?

A Green Terror or Electric Blue Demspey along with dithers and a plec should be fine, Other larger cichlids may work depending on dimensions

I'm fairly certain with proper care and filtration an oscar would do 100% fine in a 65 gallon for a long time. The general rule of thumb is 75g, however thats the "general rule", s long as the oscar is able to swim freely there should be no problems.

A 65g will be fine depending on dimensions - and filtration. No tank mates though.
