I'm going and picking up all my fish tomorrow and was told that my lfs has 4 bristlenoses right now. 2 albino long fin and 2 of the darker ones. It sounded like the Long fins are really special and I was wondering if anyone has an opinion? I have only seen the darker ones in person.

I am getting 2 but I would like the same coloration on both.

I got my Albino Long Fin a few days ago. Amazing fish, the color and the fins are incredible. I think you'd be quite pleased with him. I only wish I had got two for my large tank. Next time I see another I will be getting one.

they are beautiful fish, the only downfall is that there fins are easily ripped by plastic aquarium plants, so they should ideally be placed in planted tanks, or tanks with silk plants

Albino IMO.
They would really stand out in that substrate you have in the tank in your sig. (If that's the tank they're going in).

Pictures and updates. :good:

Hmm It would go in my planted tank. any issues with manzanita wood? there are some points to it, thought I have been working at those with my fingernails to soften them.

edit: I ain't got no grammer :fun:

Longfins are fugly imo but they will contrast with your substrate more

They are going on my play sand, not the black. I am heading out now to get my fish, guess I'll decide when I see them. Thanks :good:

They are pretty, but I've always steered clear of them. The idea of a fish which naturally seeks out awkward crannies and crevices amongst your decor having long, fragile, delicate fins just fills me with anxiety. I doubt I'd feel happy putting them in anything other than an aquatic version of a padded cell to be honest

lol We choose the Dark ones. The long fins were just babies and we wanted some juveniles or young adults.

You went with a Bristlenose Pleco? I think you'll be just as happy! :D

Lol. We actually got TWO bristlenose plecos. I am hoping that one is femal, but probably no such luck. One is VERY obviously male though. The other has short bristles and some females have been known to have some bristles. I guess time will tell.

They are all bristlenose.

So like a Tiger Pleco is actually a Tiger Bristlenose Pleco? I see lots of different Plecos that are not called 'bristlenose'??

Nope, a tiger plec is a tiger plec, however the albino longfin bristlenoses and the regular brown/black bristlenoses that FishFanatic was trying to decide between were both bristlenoses.

Nice fish btw FishFanatic!

 thanx. They are so chunky and cute! Didn't touch the zuccini i chucked in there last night though. Gotta try carrots today.
