are they actually worth getting? airstaones that is? i am sure i read somewhere that they dont help the oxygen and co2 levels? really??

no they don't really effect O2 or CO2, though disturbing the surface will help add O2 and disperse CO2. a spray bar is better. they can look good though. some fish like to play in the air stream.

They cause water movement in the water and create surface disturbance allowing greater gas exchange. Why do you think they are recommended when medicating?

use them when medicating or to help add oxygen when it gets hot in the summer but they dont tend to do much but make noise really.
