I know they're not strictly necessary, but my children would like some bubbles, so I would like to know, besides for the pump itself, tubing, suction cups, and some type of air stone.... What, if anything is needed/ideal? And what's the best way to set it up?

Also, recommendations for brands and such (available in the US, please) would be very helpful

Thank you! B-)

Hi. Don't kids just love those bubbles lol. Can see you ending up with a treasure chest with a skeleton inside. Anyway, you must get a check valve, also known as a one way valve. It must be fitted the right way around. It stops water syphoning back should the power be interupted to the pump. Mainly needed if the pump is below the tank, in a cabinet for example. I'm in the UK, so can only advise that tetratec, hagen, and so on are reputable makes. Please don't buy chinese. tho cheap spares can be hard to get. You may also want a two way valve to regulate the flow to the tank, allowing some to be lost into the room if you have too much. Don't use a clamp, this will create back pressure making your pump noisey.
