Will shrimp and snails be ok in still water? Or should I use an air pump?

Will the tank they are in have a heater?

I know for a fact that snails will be fine with my filter and no air stone.

I do strongly suggest a filter though.

The tank will be kept at 72 degrees

Will it have a filter...?
It will either have a filter or air pump if I have to have water movement. That's why I asked if they would be ok in still water

The snails yes, the shrimp... I’m hesitant to say yes.

I found this old thread that might help:
Air filters are generally recommended as they wont suck in the babies so i don't think it will be the problem.

I've read that too much flow can affect shrimp with a free swimming larval stage like Amano, but baby cherrys are essentially miniature adults so shouldn't have this problem.

As long as you have plenty of plants you don't need a filter. You do need some movement though. But if you are putting in an air pump you may as well attach a cheapie sponge filter to it.

Yes you want to use an air stone. You want uniform O2 and CO2 levels all over the tank. An air stone at the bottom of the tank will supply the needed water movement and maintain stable levels O2 and CO2. I once had a 1 gallon with blue dream shrimp and I used an air stone in it. Shrimp did fine.
