Hi, I'm new to the fish world and am doing a fishless cycle right now. I'm three days in and there's air bubbles forming under the filter aswell as the lid/cover on the tank is foggy and has water on it aswell. Photos are attached, I would like to know if it is normal.Thank you.

The fog is condensation, it is normal :)
The bubbles are just bubbles (probably from your filter) that have been trapped so have collected under your filter. Nothing to worry about :)

Thank you for your reply, I was a little worried. I also want to ask, a couple weeks from now, i will be adding a betta to the tank. Im debating on a snail aswell. Will the snail escape through the feeder hole/space on the lid?

Roughly, how big is the hole?

What type of snail are you looking at getting?

What size is this tank BTW?

Depending on the type of snail, it may not escape through the hole, though the Betta might.

The hole is shown on the first picture. Its not big enough for the betta to escape but I'm afraid that the snail might. I think its called a Zebra Thorn Nerite snail. Its a 10 gallon tank.

I may be wrong, but I don't think Nerites climb out of their tanks

I'd still cover the hole, just in case. I've heard of Bettas jumping out of holes that are 2cm!

EDIT - fixing spelling mistake

Thank you:) I will definitely cover the hole! don't want my betta jumping out on me.

Sounds good!

I've heard that craft mesh and cheesecloth work well (in case you were wondering what to use).

Not sure yet but those are great ideas! other than a snail, what other fish do well with a betta? i dont want to overcrowd my 10 gallon though.

TBH, in a 10G, I wouldn't put anything else with him.

You might be able to get away with some shrimp, though depending on his attitude, they might get eaten :/

Ya I debated on shrimp aswell lol. Betta aren't o-so-friendly but their beauties.

You could always get a couple of snails, maybe different kinds for some variety.

I'm also afraid of the snails and shrimp multiplying. Do snails lay eggs a lot as much as shrimp do?

Depends on the snail. Nerites lay eggs but they need brackish water to hatch. With the exception of pest snails, you shouln't have to worry about snails overpopulating, :)

The amount of snails there are, depends on the amount of available food. So, if you overfeed quite a lot, then you will have LOTS of snails, and vice versa.
