Could someone please tell me if having air bubbles in your tank will reduce the CO2 content in the tank? I have an Eheim 2229 wet/dry filter and CO2, I would like my plants to grow but I do not know if they will grow faster with or with out the air bubbles. The other thing I would like to know is how do you know how much CO2 is enough for your tank?

Modified TropiQuarium 88
JBL CO2 system
2 X 20 watt Aqua Glow Lamps (wish I had room for more)
130 L
Temp 26.4
pH 6.4 ppm
KH 3.5 ppm
GH 14 ppm
Nitrate NO 10 ppm
Nitrite NO 0 ppm

Thanks in advance

Im no expert in plants but from what Ive read in these forums the general opinion is that airstones etc are not favoured by the plant experts. The air bubbles created produce more oxygen which the fish certainly enjoy but they also remove some co2 which the plants enjoy therefore they dont grow as well.
If you post your query in the planted tank section Im sure you will get better help than I can provide
As to the amount of co2-not a notion :/

I've come across this one too, as I also have decorative bubbles in my tank. however, it is purely a fun thing and the motor is on a timer, going on for 15 min every 2 hours. When I get back from my hols next month, im planning on introducing a home made CO2 system that will be permanently supplying CO2 to the tank, hopefully counteracting the bubbles effect from the air system.

though, one question, would the bubbles from the co2 not have the same aereation effect my causing surface movement, promoting co2 exchange?
