Now the little guy chases both the gold which the gold are twice his size. The big opalin which is 2 times the gold size chases the male. And the Gold male chases the female gold ahhhhhhhh im so confused what should i do  :X :/ :S :alien:  -_- :fun:

Hi Final Dynazty :)

I don't think you are going to like my answer, but if moving the plants and decorations won't settle them down, (and it probably won't) I suggest you pick your favorite and take the other three back to the lfs. Sometimes all you can do is separate them.

If you do that, trade them for some more corys. I say that because you only have one and they are schooling fish. It should have at least 2 or more companions. This will give you a much more peaceful and friendly situation in your tanks.

How big is the tank, Final? Remember that Gouramis can be pretty territorial. Make sure you are providing plently of room for each fish to have it's own place. Sometimes when you add new fish to the tank, the current fish can become a little aggressive until a pecking order has been established. Watch them closely, and if the aggressiveness doesn't go away or starts to get out of hand, either get a bigger tank for all of them, or seperate them.

Out of the gouramis that I have owned, dwarf, flame, blue, opaline, gold and pearl, I have found that golds are the most aggressive. It's interesting because opalines, golds and blues are the same species and should theoretically all have imilar aggression. I've never been able to keep a gold because it was so aggressive against the other gouramis. I find that opalines and pearls generally lose their aggression after some time, if the other fish mounts a little bit of a fight. Otherwise the other fish ends up hiding and eventually dying. These are usually the dwarves who are very aggressive against each other, but won't fight back against the other gouramis, even when they have a size advantage.

Good luck,
Lorne

I think its because of the really big opaline. Its put stress on all the other gouramis, which in turns makes them aggressive. So I might just give back the big one and see how it goes from there, Becuased the the little opaline has a pretty good chuck taken out of his tail and the male gold has a bent ray  so i will probaly go to day and give him back. The only thing that i worry is they might flush him, and iI really dont want them to have to do that. Well i start workin there later this week so they could probaly help me out a lot more about things.

Final Dynazty :)

Gouramis are aggressive when defending their territories. Perhaps returning the big one will give the others enough room so they can avoid each other if necessary. I hope so.

I'm glad to learn you got a new job at the lfs and hope you post and let us know how you like it there. :D

Yeahb I start tomorrow  anyways the aggression seems to be dieing down besides some moments but it has deff. been cut down by 50% without gettin rid of any gouramis so if things really get bad then i will get rid of her but until then...
