My angelfish just laid eggs again, but although they're usually agresive, and sometimes agresive at each other, they're not normally really as agresive at each other. Though the female did once bite off the male's a long white fin thing, it soon grew back though. Just now they were biting each others mouths and turning upside down! Is this a kind of richual? Should I separate them? Please help.

sometimes angels do this if there is no other threat in the tank and they channel there aggression on each other. This should only be the case if you removed the other fish out of the tank. To help prevent this fighting place a tank next to the angel one so the angels think they are a threat. Hope this helps.

Thanks, but we only put a divider in so they're still in the same tank as the other fish! :good:
Thank you BigC too!

Lip locking is normal with pairs, as is a little ripping of fins. I wouldn't divide them unless the fin ripping gets excessive, or one of them is obviously stressed. I have pairs that do this all the time, one pair some time ago would do it every morning when you turned on the lights.

Having a divider handy is a very good idea for anyone dealing with cichlids, as aggression can occour at any time, for no apparent reason. Be aware that angels have been known to kill mates, these are the sort of fish that should not be bred, as aggression needs to be taken into account when breeding.
