I have always had a ton of spot algae on my tank walls, and have tried scrubbing with a sponge (the ones with the sandpaper like grit on them), and using the magnet scrubbers. nothing has ever worked effectifely enough, and I have to spend like 15/20 minutes scrubbing and splashing water all over the place.

The other day while I was pruning, I glanced over at my magnet scrubber. I can never find the 2 peices to together, as I am always taking things and moving them around. I had the piece with the hooks on it, and decided to give it a go manually. The magnet was never strong enough, and its only the little one. I have to say, using this on its own was the best thing to use for getting this off.

I had to use no effort to get this stuff off.

Just a tip/

I've been told the different sizes of magnet scrubber are also 'magnetised' differently according to size... i.e. small for 3mm glass, large for 5mm etc... maybe the small one you have is not powerful enough for your tanks glass thickness...

jen the only thing that works best for me compared to all the scrubbers is a razor blade... :) i connect it those old fashion shavers that you place razor blades in and shave the glass slooowllyy and lightly, everything just shaves off, even green spot algae

hope this helps jen !

I don't want to use a razor blade in there... I am a big time klutz and I can garauntee that I will cut myself. seriously. Plus. I have a bunch of scratches in the glass, and the blade wouldnt get in there.

I have tried the bigger pad on the tank, but found that it was too tricky to manouver. I like that I have complete control on this one.
