Smells a bit fishy

Hi, I have 4 rainbowfish, I know I need more, in my 180 litre 4' tank.
Now the most colourful one, I presume is male, he patrols 2/3 of the tank over and over again, doesn't stop. If any of my other rainbows wander into the area he is patrolling, he chases them back into the same corner, any ideas why?
