Hey im getting a 55 uk G tank and want an aggressive tank so was just wondering on what you guys think would be a good setup. oddballs welcome

What are the dimensions of the tank out of interest? - If you're looking for a single larger fish then width an important factor.

Do you want a single fish or a 'community' of aggressive fish, I would think a single larger 'wet pet' would probably be best due to limited tank size. My suggestion for NW cichlids would be a female midas/red devil. A texas cichlid would also be a contender. Possibly a female trimac if you can find one (most will be flowerhorns or crosses).

If you wanted something smaller then theres fewer nastier fish than salvini's, you could have a pair of them in that size tank. Equally convicts are probably pound for pound one of the most aggressive cichlids, though I'm not sure if a pair would suit your taste, maybe a salvini plus a convict?

As for oddballs then my ideas would be from rainbow wolffish / dwarf snakeheads / exodons / however the most aggressive oddball I can think of just while typing now is probably a congo puffer.

thanks for the information i hadnt even heard of some of those fish the dimensions of the tank are 121 x 41 x 50 its a rio 240 and i think id like to have a community tank i was thinking of getting 2 convicts same sex , jewel , firemouth ( or now salvini ) and a blue crayfish and a sengal birch with some dither fish what do you think of this?

Maybe I'm missing something but what is the point in deliberately setting up a tank for conflict? To be honest the idea of setting up a "community" tank in which you've hand picked fish to confront each other is somewhat wrong...

i reckon your crayfish will get eated =)
(arnt blue crays illegal in uk?)

No the cherax quad is the only legal cray,

ye and ive kept one with convicts before fullsized cons and they dont bother each other, and i want a community tank of aggressive fish because i cant have placid fish then add one aggressive fish or there will be conflict .
