Just noticed today during feeding time that my male Bolivian Ram is chasing and nipping the female when she gets close. Is this normal? Do they normally get stingy with their food? I don't think they're breeding since I haven't seen any eggs and conditions aren't right for breeding...I think. Maybe I need to add a few more. I only have two right now. Also, their colors look faded and have been since I got them. Is this just cause they're still young? Does their color brighten up with age?

Their colors do get better with age. The nipping is just a sign of dominance and if no real damage is being done, I would not worry about it.
