I have a platy who is normally very placid, she's probably around 3 weeks pregnant, and i have noticed she is getting quite aggressive towards the other 3 platies...especially the male who appears to have had a nip on his tail fin!!

I also have harlequins which she doesn't bother with?

Is this normal behaviour?

I think the closer they get to giving birth the more they want to be left alone, so can get quite aggresive towards other fish, especially other males. I have a golden molly who displays this kind of behaviour just prior to giving birth.
Any other time it's her who chases the male around and likes to have a nip at his gonopondium if he won't play ball!! However when she is close to giving birth she will chase any other females or males away, and can be very aggresive toward them. So I would say it's probably normal behaviour.

Hope this helps
