I purchased 2 Koi Angels about six months ago, along with 2 Silver Angels. Unfortunatly one of the Silver Angels died.
For some time now the larger of the Koi Angels is aggressive towards the other Koi Angel. However, I have never seen him chase any other fish including the Silver Angel.
I feel quite sorry for the smaller koi Angel as he is banished to a corner of the aqarium amounst the plants where he is safe.
Is there anything I can do?
I was thinking maybe take him out and put in the quarantine tank for a fortnight, and see if that knocks his confidence, alternativly buy another 2 koi Angels, I imagine he'll chase them to, but it will take the preasure of the other one.
Any other idea's welcome, I have 900 litres to play with..........

This happens with my pair of angles, the female (largest one) chases the male (smallest one), maybe defending its territory or it maybe something to do with spawning, because mine have been doing this for a while, they get torn fins and pretty battered up, then in the end they spawn.

Dont take my word for it im no expert when it comes to angels, there are a few experts on here though :good:

I haven't ever heard the female being large then the male :dunno: Yes agreed with the above watch soon and maybe you'll get some eggs! Ask Tolak about it if you have questions, he is great with them!

I don't get any torn fins, just a bit of chaseing and nudging.

So the advice seems to be do nothing and watch out for eggs.

Where will I find the eggs, do they have bubble nests or will I find them under a leaf etc?
Can a novice breed Angels in the Aquarium?

If they are going to lay eggs, the most likely place will be either up high on the glass, on the heater, filter nor large piece of wood.
And yes a novice can breed angel fish successfully in the aquarium if you revise a little :D
