Aggressive Discus

can anyone help to explain why, discus ,who are " so called " gentle tend to be slightly aggresive when on there own and if you introduce another of the same type all hell breaks loose

They are gentle as far as cichlids go, but remember they are cichlids!

The pecking order has been disrupted, and a new one has to be established. So a bit of pushing and shoving is normal That is why a group of 6 fish plus is good as aggression gets spread throughout the group.

You should not keep them on their own, you need a group of min 5, 6 or more is better though if you have room?
