After The Move

Im sorry this thread may as well be deleted as its lost its purpose anyhow.I can remember when this used to be ''the friendliest forum around'' not an ego trip for sad individuals to make themselves feel better by trying to demean everything other people do and say.Without asking for dimensions or contents you assume i dont know what Im doing and there lies the problem.for all you know i could be doing daily 50% water changes with 3 filters running but instead of trying to find out you prefer to jump to conclusions and that is the difference between trying to be mature and and actually being old enough to know how to behave.

This has nothing to do with how well the tank is kept. This has to do with the size, as Discus do get big and can get stunted when the tank is too small, that would be the reason why I would "assume" because i've seen the tank, and Discus shouldn't be kept in it. And ya now what? I'm not on an "ego" trip in trying to get you to give your fish a good home, because personally, I feel sorry for them having to be in a tank like that..
You do know I only asked because I remeber that you agreed it was too small and to be upgraded, and I think you know it's true so you get on the defensive...

A: I'd like to know how big the tank is. It looks fine for now to me in size compared to the discus. And hel. does have the ability to go to a bigger tank in DUE TIME. It's not urgent ATM looking at it from here.

B: Discus, I respect you a bit, but you're being far to agressive here. Tone it down a bit. You've had this same problem yourself with people being mad at you, and you should recall how it was to have everyone angry at you for your suggestions.

C: To your remark on her not being able to spell - "tut" is a commonly used term. you kinda made yourself look like a Jack there.

Don't worry... At lest Some People admire your tank as to what it looks like... I think it looks really good, i like the set up and everything... The plants look great, and the discus is really pretty!!! Keep up the good work...

So what! The tank looks pretty big in the picture, and why bother starting something if you don't know how the tank is kept? If the discus is happy, there shouldn't be a problem. If it was unhappy, i am sure that something would be done to avoid problems...

helsekia, your tank looks fine, nothing wrong with it to me... :) :)

Tut is commonly used where? Europe? I have never lived there nor heard of it, plus if I recall I wasn't the aggressor here. I asked a question, and she came back with a snappish comment stating what that nothing has changed, as in we are all jerks? Because thats what it seemed like she was trying to say... I'm not even sure if it is her tank anymore but last time I checked some one had a very small tank shaped like that and they said it was a temporary thing, it was taller but not wide...

Okay maybe I came out a little harsh, I was only looking out for the fish, I take the hobby seriously, especially when it has to do with Discus and I guess I over reacted and did just assume it was the same tank I saw. No hard feelings? I shouldn't have done what I did, sorry.

i am sure the discus will be fine in that tank... I can't see anything happening to it... It looks as if it has heaps of room! :)

Look at the discus.

Look at the size of the tank.

for now, they're fine.

And I'm in America. "Tut Tut" is more common, and it's kind of a combination phrase to mean "cool down".

And you also took her comment the wrong way. It wasn't meant to start a fight. It was meant as to say something about how she'd been gone from here for two months. "Things never change here". Just saying it's nice to be back.

She also has 2x 3 foot long tanks. I'm sure they'll have fine housing.

The only question I had was over the choice of having angels with discus, which is arguable on either end.

Okay hmmm I have never heard of the phrase :dunno:... Anyways I was thinking about this and it really hit me. The forum will never change, there will always be disputes, and the reason being is because as you all may have heard, love and hate are the same. When passion runs deep, anger flares easily, and I think that is why we are always so irritable and sassy, because all of our members care for proper fish keeping, and want it to be practiced by everyone at all times...

It think it's easier to sum up as..... "It happens."

thankyou Gank and choc.Okay so we will sort this out now in a calm and adult manner?

1)yes the tank will need upgrading in the future its fine at the minute there are 5 discus in it and 5 little angels.

2)I have an external filter that is the correct size for the tank and I have 2 internal filters as back up.

3)I also do water changes 3-4 times a week taking out a third of the water.I of course dechlorinate. And I check water stats if I feel the need.

4)lights are on for 10 hours a day and there is no substrate.

5)I never seem to get algae half the plants are real half are silk.

6)I moved into my house 8 weeks ago and am having building work done once thats all done and the house settled I will be buying a bigger tank but as im not sure on the space I will have I dont want to buy it yet.for the next 2 months or so they are fine.I only posted because I had been away a while and I love my fish and wanted to share a photo not start a riot

Hey, nice photos, nice tank, nice discus.........and nice apology Discuslover. :good:  :# We all have strong opinions on how our favourite babies should be kept (you should see me at a horse show...or maybe not! :ninja: :eek:sama:   :saddam: ) so I understand where you are coming from.
