just stood at the tank looking at the clown loaches and noticed one has white spot,

ammonia-0
nitrite-0
nitrate-5 ( think this was wiped out during treatment for columaris recently)

water changes done every week

200L

2 large angel fish
3 small clown loaches ( only 1 has spots)
6 danios
3 platys
5 baby bristlenose
2 apple snails

lots of plants, bogwood ( pic in sig)

have turned the heater up to 82 added a large air stone

i have aquaruim salt can i add this with the loaches and snails?

hope u can see the spots on him, couldnt get a better pic :(

will it act the same as the other type.. i didnt use this the last time i had whitespot , while ago so dont remember the same, was aquarium salt tho

maybe the increase in heat alone will kill it off then, i know a lot of old school fishkeepers dont use meds, and i dont really want to as they have jus been treated for columaris after that bloody molly incident :( ill get some meds first thing anyway, but then again thats a risk with loaches, maybe someone can give me a name of a brand i can full dose on for him and incase the other loaches get it

thanks truck :)

did u half dose it?

whitespot is fine to treat IME as long as clown loaches dont get it... oooh i hate it, and they could just do without it too

Oops sorry thats what i meant to say,you don't have to half dose this one,the only fish it affects is elephant noses.

No problem, you dose on day 1 then again 4 days later, then you can treat 7 days later if required,i have found the first dose does the trick but i do the 2nd dose as a precaution.

The heat is the best way to get the ich to fall off the fish, its once its free swimming that it is susceptible to the medication, interpet is a good one to use or protozin, half dosed for the loaches. You may need to do two courses to completely irradicate it. Up the aeration in the tank with the extra heat and meds shelagh as the 02 levels will drop.
