Ive had my tank running now for 1 and a half weeks and will shortly be doing a few tests on the water. the PH is reading 7 at the moment, i have 3 small tetras in there with some med sized pebbles and a selection of healthy plants, the tank is a Juwal 96 (96 litres) and i am interested in getting a Betta.

I want to run a community tanks with a selection of pretty fish, seen as this is my first tank though i dont specialise in any species.

i really want a nice red/pink betta, along with some cat fish, some gourami's, maybe 2 peacock cichlids and a few others im not sure of.

will the betta be ok in with all of these fish?

ive read a few threads on the board about bettas and desperatly want one :D

:*)

The betta will be fine but I would say no to the cichlids. They wouldn't mix well with that and get too big for your tank.

I have a melano betta with gourami and a tri-colored crowntail with tetras. They get along well. Just make sure your betta doens't cause any problems. Mine don't fight but all fish are different.

That tank may be a tiny bit to large for a betta (He will try and patrol the entire tank) but if you consider I recomend maybe a variety of tetras, female bettas, danios (CORIES BEING A MUST :D ) but definetly no chiclids, gouramis, angels, guppies any queries don't hesitate to ask...and if you decide not to put a betta in your tank buy a small tank and get one ;)

i have a second tank here that i can set up and put him in if i do have territorial problems with him, just wondering what fish i can go for if i get one.
