is this a big no no? i am not sure what africans i have as i can't seem to id them...... but they don't get more that 5 inches and i was wanting to put in some fire mouths with them?

actually alot of people that keep the very large and very agressive cichlids like I do use mbuna as dithers. Mostly because they are tougher and quicker than most any other fish.

depends on the individual fm...some are wusses and would get killed, some are bitchy and would do fine....
ALL cichlids can adapt to a dif ph then what is expected...it is keeping the ph constant that matters most...
I have africans in with my green terror ,ph hovers around 7.8 and all are very healthy and happy.

I haven't had any problems with these guys :dunno: Big old african jewel and a pair of NW rainbows :)

thanks i'll keep all that in mind but in the mean time.... i id'd my africans (something i have been trying to do for a while) they are cynotilapia afra (chinuni)

You can keep African Jewl Cichlids with any American cichlids there water chemistry is the same as most American cichlids
