Anybody used AE Design Aqua Carbon instead of easy carbo or flourish excel? It has same recomended dosage like flourish so I assume it has same concentration of Glutaraldehyde (active part of easycarbo and flourish) as Flourish while its much cheaper :hyper: making it reasonable alternative to CO2 system cost wise.

ima mewbie to planted tanks but from what i can gather liquid carbon is different to c02. i think that it will help your plants but there are a lot of other factors like substrate and light. if you have just got easy grow plants like elodea and java fern etc with bog standard gravel it will make a difference just not a massive one as will root clayballs. hope this helps :good:

ps i have used a diy c02 system witch costs pennys! but there are a lot of for and against to them. it alo makes things a lot more complex, may be worth looking into as a cheap alternative but do your homework.

diy CO2 (yeast type) system is defo a no go for me, had enough experience of them on industrial scale during studies (bio rector design, etc.) to know how unstable it is in home conditions  not to mention of mess involved :)
If i went into playing with yeast i would prefere to use it to make some homebrew instead :)

As atm pressurised system is over my budget :-( That leaves liquid carbon and creates question - which one of three available :)

i personally use flourish and am happy with the results, so havent had any experience with any of the other brands.

I used to use EasyCarbo then switched to the Aqua Essentials version; I've seen no difference since I changed. I wouldn't be without it. I can't use pressurised co2 because I work a twelve hour shift (plus an hour's travel each way); if something went wrong when I'm at work I won't be able to do a thing about it. Dosing 5ml liquid a day before I go to work is much better for me.
