At the moment I have 7 neons, tank is a 60L, and well established filter, been running over a year. I have been feeding my neons on Tetramin, and I have some frozen daphnia, and they also liked the frozen (after boiling and de-shelling!) pea I gave them.

I'm planning on adding 3 Guppies to the tank this weekend, so what do I do about feeding?

Been giving the neons one or 2 medium sized flakes a day, with fasting, or 1 small flake on some days.

How much should I give when the guppies go in, are they likely to beat the neons to the food? and if they do, how do I make sure both guppies and neons all get food?? - Or is it likely they will all be quick enough to each get some food?

Gonna get some bloodworm as a supplement too.

So, is Tetramin flakes, frozen daphnia, frozen pea, and freeze dried bloodworm enough of a varied diet for both neons and guppies? and just keep on with a mixture of these foods, with a weekly fasting day - does that sound right?

it sounds like you have it worked out to me, i think the guppys may beat the neons to the foods as they are normally always looking for the food. a vary of foods is the way forward.

the easy way to beat that is. add some food at one far end of the tank, while the guppys are eating that add some crumbled up food under the water on the pther side of the tank for the neons.
remember not to overfeed and remove any uneaten food at the end.

All sounds fine. Just don't feed your bloodworm more than once a week as it is not good for your fish's digestion.

I thought you were supposed to feed them stuff like that?

How can it be recommended if its not good for them?

How often should I feed a non-flake diet?

Should it be something like:

2 Days on flake (2 feeds a day)
1 Day with a 'treat' (1 or 2 feeds?)
2 Days flake (2 feeds)
1 Day 'treat'
1 Day fast

Is that an ok routine, with a varying 'treat' on the treat days (veg./bloodworm/daphnia)

If so, on a treat day, do you feed only one lot of the treat, or 2 feeds of it? - or even 1 treat feed, and 1 flake feed?

What is best way to go??

Sounds fine to me! Ive been feeding my loaches and gourami probably enough as to where they should not go hungry.
