Advice On Upgrading

Hi there, i currently have a 60l tank which i got as a hand me down had it for 6months or so and really getting into the hobby.
now i really want to up grade as my tank is getting overcrowded lol!! so....., i want a bigger tank but iam unsure wot is better either to go wider or taller i have been keenly looking at the aquaone 620T as the width and depth dimension suit my available pace the tank is 62wx72hx39d my current tank is 60wx35hx30d(elite style60) so is simalar in dimension but much taller giving me 130L capacity does anyone have this tank any other recommendations, i am not lookin for bigger fish just more space for new one lol



currenty have 6 tiger barbs, 3 rosy barbs, a pair of cribs, 2 platys, clown plec

I'm under the impression that the over all volume doesn't have a bearing on your stocking levels. The most important thing is your waters surface area, as that is where the gas (oxygen) exchange takes place. The larger the waters surface area the greater the number/amount of fish you can have.

Depends gas exchange doesn't matter much especially if the tank is planted with live plants which would provide the high oxygen levels needed. I would say most fish like length over height as it allows for greater swimming area horizontally which most fish seem to prefer. Angelfish however like taller tanks over wide so it is quite species dependent.

so would i be better off with the aquaone ufo 550 which is only 78L 86wx62hx44.5d wider than the 620t but has less overall volume and takes up roughly the same space and is matched in price??

go for langer rather than taller

If they are matched in price, about the same length and depth but one is taller then the other so has a larger volume I would go with the larger. Seems illogical to buy smaller if it has the same footprint and price.
