Advice On Planting A New Tank Wanted

I was looking at the JBL ProFlora Taifun S Here would you happen to how any knowage on this reactor/Diffuser or would I be better to connecting the Co2 direct to the powerhead which ofcourse will chop-up and blow the bubbles around the tank. + save a little space as my tank is only 2ft.

Dont get a ladder diffuser.
Get a glass ceramic diffuser connected to the CO2. Then place the diffuser under the powerhead. This would do.

Well Radar that has thrown a spanner in the works lol.

I bought the Diffuser you recommended :good: I also bought the glass Check valve and Bubble counter too as they looked so nice. (Good website Thanks)

I ended up having to go to two of my Lfs's yesterday in the end as only the latter one stocked juwel products, and I was lucky because they only had two 438mm juwel reflectors left ;) I also bought a 15w Ballest I opted for the Interpet Lighting system as it came with easy to fit clips. as well as 2 Glo (Power Glo) tubes 15w What a differance a new tube makes, I can see my fish now lol,

I still have a bit of fun ahead as I have already customised my Juwel lid (inside section back to front) becasue of the tank placing (so I can feed the fish)
Ok scrap the last part I have just finnished chopping up my Juwel lid and the light placement has come out good. (It's amazing what you can with a hot knife!) So I am pleased with that and the 30 watts of light I now have. I think the Green Tiger Barbs need Sun Glasses now

I am just waiting for my Diffuser and bit's to arrive so I think it's time to start looking at some more plants! Any more idears?

Edit: You mentioned Tropical Plant Nutrition + Can you confirm this one is correct as I have found two differant types on ebay.

Thanks.

Clint.

Until the diffuser comes/until you start the CO2, just keep one light on.
Yes, that's the stuff. Looks a bit expensive.Aquaessentials do it cheaper, although you will have postage ontop.
The "+" version contains macro nutrients (NPK). Whereas the normal version just contains trace elements.

Cool thanks RadaR...

I still to have to buy the plants, I have been looking around and have seen a few that I would like but I havent a clue what they are called? (more research for me)

It looks like I might have to wait untill the weekend now anyway because of work commitments :( I have been looking for a Co2 Glass Drop Checker with no luck. Could you recommend a web site by any chance? (Or any one who looks in) As Aqua essentials have sold out.

Hi,

I have just noticed a some Brownish matter ??? in my gravel during my weekly water change, Should I be worried about this ?

Organic matter. Get rid of it. It's probably a combination of fish waste and recent plant decay. It's probably attracted diatoms already. You really want to keep this stuff to an absolute minimum.

Thanks for that info RadaR it's much appreciated :good:

I have just given my graver a deep clean so things are now looking much better! I will give it another go over at the weekend when hopefully I can set up my Co2 also...

I have just been offered a AquaManta EFX 600 External Filter for a good price.
AquaManta EFX 600 External Filter
Would this filter be to big to use on my 60ltr tank? Or should I stick to my Tetratec ex600 which has a lower turn over rate.

I take it that I will need to fish in cycle the new fiter if it is ok to use!

I answered that question in the other thread ^

But I noticed your co2 kit for sale. How come you're selling it? Or is it nothing to do with this setup?

Hi PD,

I decided to go with the AquaManta as it was so cheap! I had to bite his hand off

Just finished installing the filter, Adding the media from my Tetrec like for like, as you recommended.(Thanks)

I have seen the flow rate and it's like a washing machine on spin (poor fish) So I have clamped the outlet tube to slow the flow rate right down. I am not to sure if this will damage the filter? (If anyone reading could answer this?) But I am not to worried about this as there is still two years left to run on the extended Guarantee :p

As far as the Co2 setup is concerned, that was the first lot I bought and it is pretty basic as you can see, I now have a better setup,ie. bigger bottle and decent clocks, I have bought myself a glass diffuser, bubble counter and check valve also to make everything look pretty
