Hi I just brought a 2x40W T8's starter unit thing accidentally was planning on getting T5's the plan was to have one bulb over a 18 Lx12 D nano planted and another over a nano reef of the same size. soo the question do you think its worth changing it for T5's and also whats the ideal W's for a planted nano of this size?

thanks in advance

For the nano, T8s would be fine, the tank isn't very deep so light penetration shouldn't be an issue. A 40w T8 would be to long for a 18" tank though.

There is no 'best w for a planted tank' the W required will depend on what you want to achieve from the tank, high light or low light.
