I know very little about the cichlids from this lake so going to do a lot of reading first but want to answer some fundimental questions before i look into it further?
a fish i love is the Chalinochromis sp. Ndobhoi who can i keep these with???
I have read you can keep open water rock and shellies in one tank is that right?
but can you keep fish from several groups in one tank? ie Lamprologus and Neolamprologus or would they cross or fight?
What sort of ratio of fish an i looking at ie male to female?
i have a 4x2x2 tank would that be any good? i am also looking into a 7 footer??? so what size would be best for a varied set up?
suggestions of good fish to go for and possible suppliers please

Firstly congratulations on choosing Tananyikan
4x2x2 is a really good size , do you want a community ? 7 footer would be awesome, set me a chair and stick the kettle on
You can keep fish from different areas :good:
You can keep Lamps and Neolamps together with no problems :good:
Elisew and doresy both have Tanganyikan communities, have a look
The main thing with Tangs is setting out enough room for each species to have it's own territory, they don't usually hold a large territory but it's nice for them to have a bit of room to move.. You could have a rock formation and base everything round that or, rocks either end with an open middle, shell area... There is loads of scope for a tank that size, you have a good height and floor space (footprint), you could have Cyps in the open space, Paracyps or Julies on the rocks, a group of shell dwellers, choice is yours. If you look at my signature the 190ltr tank is 4foot but way narrower than yours, has sand sifters , cyps, and altos, it's not perfect but it seems to be worknig ok, the Altos are even flirting and showing signs of spawning :hyper:
Oh yeah, check this link

I have looked at this fish a couple of times , looks very like Julidochromis, have seen it in with Telmatochromis sp. "Temporalis Shell and Julidochromis transcriptus Kalemie with Cyprichromis Leptosoma (Mpulungu), hope this helps, sorry for going on and on and on
Enjoy :good:

Fill that bad boy with rocks and water, cycle it, get some Tanganyikans and all will be right in your world :hyper:

Sorry  Your questions have been answered already I see. I have a bit of a community mixture which all get on ok. Obviously there is a bit of attitude from time to time but that's why we keep cichlids ;) Trial and error is my method but a bit of research can save you a bit of bother later on.

cool thanks
all i need is a good supplier now the more the better! pref f1 or tank bred to keep costs down :good:
and stocking suggestions for the 4 foot first will be greatly appreaciated
