my tank has newly cycled and i added 2 bolivian rams 2 days ago.i was told on another site that you can add quite a few fish at the start as the filter has enough bacteria to cope.ive never done this before and only added them slowly.so today i added 8 cardinal tetras.i cant afford to add anymore for another 2 weeks so when i added the new fish will i have a mini cycle as im guessing most of the bacteria would have died/gone dormant by then???

When you say cycled do you mean fish less? If so yes you can almost fully stock once completed by you can as you have without any problems. The bacteria will just reduce to handle your stocking, the bacteria can multiply in approx 24 hours at a crazy rate as long there is an established colony which you created in your cycle. So just add a few more fish when ready don't feed the tank for 24/48 hours and you not see any mini cycle :good:

Did you do a fish less cycle or a fish-in cycle?

You may want to keep an eye on your ammonia for the next few days, so you can make the needed w/c should there be an ammonia spike! When you add new fish now you should just add 2-3 at a time! It is also advisable to quarantine new fish that you want to add to an established tank for about 4 weeks, since they can bring in diseases or parasites. In a QT you can observe them and treat them should they develop something.

I know you've just started your tank so they all are kind of at risk for it, so basically your new tank is their QT.

i fishless cycled it with pure ammonia
tested today and ammonia and nitrite at 0 has been for 4 days now.nitrate at 10.
so i want to get a dwarf gourami next so will i be ok to get it in 2 weeks time providing water is good??
