Advice For My New Fish

Got a phone call, Apparently it's on its side now at the bottom... still breathing... but heavily I guess it's a goner... Really don't know why it looks perfectly healthy (of course apart from the fact its not moving around), the water is pretty much perfect and it all came on within the space of 3 days out of the 25 that it lived in our tank.

Interesting turn of events, will be a fish breed I will likely avoid from now.

Edit: Perhaps dropsy is the cause? Lets just hope he hasn't infected the other fish if it is :(

Oh no! :(. That is strange. I was gonna suggest pregnancy coz I know they can hold sperm for months but not if it's lying on its side. Maybe it's Swim Bladder?

I am truly baffled, I thought it was pregnancy as it looks similar to pictures like this
Pregnant Platy

The contours of the body were pretty close to that, but after my girlfriend phoned up to tell me it is now on it's side an breathing very slowly I'm starting to think its actually a disease/killer it has.

Dropsy is the only other disease I can find at the moment and well its a sad day if it is, I would be happy to see little fry, though I don't have a breeder net nor room for them and the chances are I will let the fry be eaten.

Edit:

It just died, no protruding scales, somewhat inflated but nothing close to pregnancy but about the size it would be if it feasted heavily on food.

It's a shame because we had heartache with Neons and Guppys when we first started as we got bad advice over them. Now we just got a fish dying of something which seems unpreventable. Water stats still 0,0... all other fish still swimming round happily.

If anything I would expect the GBR to be the one which died being more sensitive n all.

:(

If I was you I'd do everything I can to find out what happened. It seems so odd to me!
