Hi,

I currently have a 30l tank, this had a goldfish in for a couple of months but that has since been re-housed into a more suitable size tank.

I am looking at getting some Mountain Minnows or danios - around 6. I have a stingray filter at the moment, which was fine for the goldfish and I am happy with it, but I have read a lot about smaller fish getting stuck or being sucked into it. Has anyone any experience of this?

If I am to replace it does anyone have any sensible recommendations taking tank size and fish size into account?

Thanks

Another option is a simple sponge filter.  This is a small tank, less than 10 gallons, so be careful selecting fish.  Danio are too active and need a group so not a good choice.  The White Cloud Mountain Minnows could work, though I would look into much smaller fish.  There are several "dwarf" species among the cyprinids (the Boraras rasbora species for example) that are brightly coloured, or perhaps the Ember Tetra from the characins.  These are both soft water fish, so keep the water parameters in mind too.

Byron.

air driven sponge filters are simple yet effective. chilli rasboras would be ideal for that size tank. or perhaps  a betta. ember tetras may also work.

After quite a bit of reading and advice I'm looking at Marina s15 filter. Has anyone used one of these?

I've used the  superfish aquaflow 50 in a small tank and found that to be good value.
