Hiya
I am pestering you lot for some decent advice as I am sick of getting rubbish advice from lfs. I have a recently set up a small tank (approx 12 gallons) with 5 neons, 3 guppys, a kuhli loach and 2 sucking loaches. I have been given some right old rum advice from lfs, we purchased a skunk botia after being told it fit well into a community tank - WRONG! We had to give it away after it shredded the tail of our guppies. Similar thing with our sucking loaches - told they are very peaceful algae eaters, yes until they grow up!
Anyway down to the question - I'm after getting one or two more fish - kind of centre pieces - what would fit in to my set up, i was thinking of something like a dwarf gourami but haven't heard anything good about them. Any suggestions?
Thanks

sounds to me like your fairly well stocked. The rule of thumb with smaller fish is 1" of fish per gallon... If you got rid of the sucking loaches you might be able to fit a dwarf gourami.

If you get rid if your sucking loaches I would recommend getting another Kuhli loach. They prefer to be in the company of their own kind or else they will spend a lot of time in hiding. Otherwise if you really want an algae eater consider getting a couple Otos. They are small and would work in your tank nicely.

good point. i didn't even think about the social nature of khuli's.
