Hi guys :)

I've been thinking about what to do with my betta culls so I thought I'd run an idea by you. What if I adopt my culls out to forum members? Some of them are beautiful fish with only slight faults, like plakats with a curly tail or a gill that doesn't close properly. All of them kinda have their own story. I have a few up and coming in my 7 week old spawns with the same gill defect, or funny ventrals.

I have a couple of blind CT's. They're gorgeous! But they can't see a thing :dunno: I had to take them out of the grow out tank because they kept nipping their way around.. :/ So they would need somebody who would love them for being blind and who would also take the time to feed them patiently, I do that now but ...not to sound cold hearted but I have no time to have babies with special needs, forever. I could never sell or show them so they would definately have to stay here wth me. Unless one of you guys want them

I can afford to ship one out free of charge (priority shipping),but I'll only be able to do that like every other week, maaaybe one a week.

I could post up a pic of 'this weeks adoptarino' and whoevers interested can say so, but how do I go about choosing who gets it? I want the babies to go to good homes,is this going to cause problems?
It would only be available to US residents because of shipping :/

I also think we could make it kinda fun, so all ideas are welcome!

I think it is a wonderful idea!!!
I know many of you have seen my Avery, he has funky ventrals, and is gorgeous, active and healthy. I love him to death and though he is curly, he is fierce :flex:

I'd take a cull, but, I'm in Canada. I'm a US "resident" though, staying in Canada... can I have one anyway? ;)

*hides in one of Eddie's pots... >.>*

i think its a wonderful idea. many of us betta lovers have a soft spot for those less than perfect little guys. and most of us aren't breeders so a defect won't be an issue. i think many of us would love the opportunity to have a plakat, even if he had curls. would make him a bit unique i'd think. and many of us betta owners here already baby our bettas so for most, the extra feeding effort probably wouldn't be an issue. as far as choosing the proper home, you'd have to use your best judgement on that one............ you can tell a great deal about how people care for their fish, how much time they have, the effort they'd be willing to spend, based on thier posts and whatnot.......... you could come up with a series of questions regardign that particular betta's care that you'd pm to potential adopters, do a followup with them and then decide who gets it. thats how the dog/cat rescue group i work with does their adoption process to ensure the animal is going to a good home....... sounds like a big process but you ARE worried about them going to homes where they will receive the proper care.......

sounds like a great idea to me! its just getting out your great babies to be loved with little problems.

that would be an uberfantastic idea. i would take so good care of it because i just got fired and that mean im with it all day and i know how to take care of bettas

Wuv send me a blind CT Cull and I will pay for shupping. I will put him beside my other Blind fella LOL they can then holler at each other.
 you need to get them some of those huge black shades and a walking stick thing.

I think this is a wonderful idea. I would certainly be interested. I saw a website somewhere that did this as well. :)

how can you tell the fish is blind ? weird eyes and smashing into stuff or what?

yea id definately take some.. ill pay shipping too

I would have to agree it's a great idea also. I for one have a cull already (SBD) and he's loving life! I've made his tank SBD accessible and he seems to love it. I'm sure a lot of ppl will take into consideration how much you care for the culls, enough to not just kill them off, and feel even more protective of the ones you give because they do have special needs. GREAT IDEA!

:shifty: Oh and not to mention, you'll have their address... j/k...

i think that's a great idea wuv :D and i'd love to take care of one, excpet i live in canada :(

but this will definitely ensure that they'll get the chance to live a good happy life :)

I think it's a great idea wuv. I'd definatly be interested. Defects are completely meaningless to me. :)
