As im pretty new to cichlids, i would like to know what are the best choices of cichlids i can mix together, i really like the yellow lab and he frontosa, but as i already have 2 Pseudotropheus Elongatus, i need some help, cheers.

These are a few that caught my eye...if u have anyother recommendations.

electric yellow lab
Pseudotropheus zebra
convict
blue acara
jack dempsey
Cyphotilapia frontosa
keyhole

PLEASE
pay attention when researching fish the Aggression factor, almost all of those fish you listed are REALLY aggressive not to mention from different locals and call for different water parameters.

the man in the fish shop said an electric yellow would be ok with these, what other mbuna would be ok with elongtus?

electric yellow lab - African Cichlid
Pseudotropheus zebra - African Cichlid
convict - NOT AFRICAN CICHLID
blue acara - pretty sure its NOT an african cichlid
jack dempsey - NOT AFRICAN CICHLID
Cyphotilapia frontosa - African but they grow to 14 inches so dont mix well with many other cichlids
keyhole - again, pretty sure NOT African Cichlid.

its normally a bad idea to listen to anyone in your LFS. they want money from you and thats about it.

African cichlids like a high PH of 7.5+ and the other fish u listed wont like that so much!

55 Gallons is the reccomended minimum tank size for african cichlids too so id say you need to be even more careful with what u buy.

out of the list you have, the yellow labs are your best bet. i have 3 and there gorgeous little fish.

after a bit of research i found that my fish wa actualy not an elongatus but a Sciaenochromis fryeri, slighty similar, so an electric yellow would be ok with these i guess? But dont you have to have them in pairs for best results?

Your fish is definately not a Sciaenochromis fryeri if that is your fish in the pic you posted in the other thread.

no they are not really like the fish in the other threar, similar but no stripes on the forhead and a whitish head. so would electric yellows be fine with these, and is it best to have them in pairs or 3's?
