Hey there people :)

I've ordered some fish for my 125g
which will be here within the next 3
days.

The only problem is that for the fish (Delhezi Bichirs)
i have a great setup in mind. This consists mainly of
2 very large peices of bogwood. These have been
soaking in a container of water for 2 weeks, and i have changed
the water every day so far.

Will it be too early to add it to the tank? (the wood was in another tank about a year ago)

The amount of tannins in the water has almost completely faded -_-

Will i be able to controll this by doing more frequent water changes for a while?

Bit of a big one there lol

Any advice/help is welcome! :good:

If the wood has been in a tank before, it may not leach at all. Personally, I like the slight color that it puts in the water. My driftwood in my 75 gallon doesn't leach any more (been in for 2 years) but I liked the look of the tank better when it did. I know you can buy the black water stuff but I don't want touse any chemicals. Anyway, yes you can control any tannins with water changes. They really aren't bad for the fish though. Just a matter of the way you want the tank to look.

What are you planning on doing with the new tank? I've you're going to cycle it, especially if it's a fishless cycle, then I wouldn't worry, and just put it straight in.

If you're going to clone the new tank, then add stock straight away, then I might keep the bog wood in the bucket soaking for another couple of days, but I think that's of an asphetic (sp) thing, will just make the water dirty for a couple of days, but won't really do any harm to the fish in the tank. As rdd said, as the wood's already been in another tank before, I can't see it leaching too much too.

Thanks guys :good:

I'll be putting it in tommrrow as
thats when i (hopefully lol) get my
fish :D

Oh and the tank has just finished cycling Orbit!
