Been given a fluval 1 filter and a interpet IPF1 filter (same kinda size) would there be any advantage in adding them in my tank?!

you could if you plan on getting another tank and use it as a seeding filter? or if you know someone that is thinking of getting one.
other wise you could just use it for added filtration/added water surface agitation... i cant come up with any other ideas lol

more filtration is always good, plus having a spare small filter running in your tank gives you options for a hospitla/quarntine tank to be set up quickly and easily if you need one.

I run a internal along with a external in my tank with filter floss in it.

If I wanted to set up a Q tank would I just fill it with tap water, heat up and use that filter? (Once its been in main tank a while)

dechlorinated tap water but yes that's how you do it. then when done you throw away the media and pop it back in the tank with new media, after 2/3 weeks it'll be ready for use as a q/hospital tank filter again.
