Adding New Fish

I went on vacation and all fish were good. Kids were doing an awesome job caring for them well I was gone.
Although when I looked at my daughters tank the fish had fubgas all over them. They had removed 3 dead fish already.
I did an immediate water change and added medicine.
I think it was just too late and they all died in the end.

I did a large water change, cranked the heat up, cleaned all the decorations, plants, etc.
How long do I have to wait before adding new fish? It's only been 1wk

I'd be inclined to make sure that the disease is all gone before adding others, so wait longer, and of course not add to many at once to avoid a mini cycle starting off!
