I'm planning on getting two more Harelquin's next monday as im getting only trace amounts not enough to measure on the chart that came with my kit. I wanted to give the filters another week to establish. I have a small 15l unheated tank and my 90l.

What the best way to add them without adding lfs water to my main tank. Would it be ok to add them in a week.

After you've finished your 1/2 hour or hour of drip acclimation, just get a plastic container larger than the water in the acclimation container and do the following: get a net and gently pour the fish and water through the net, water going in to this new container, then gently introduce the fish that are in the net into the main tank and let them swim away from the net. Throw away the LFS water that's in the extra container.

WD speaks the truth. Harlequins are great little fish I have 25 of them now and they have so much character im sure your new 2 will be very happy.

What is drip acclimation? do i still float the bag? in the other container first.

I didn't drip acclimatise mine I just floated the bag and added cup of tank water to the bag every 10 mins for an hour then netted them and released them.

CM, if you are now over your very recent "toxic spike" issues, I would give your tank at least two weeks of "double zeros" before getting the Harlequins.

If you have a second mature filter that has the necessary bacteria alive and well (I suspect you have not given the recent issues you have had with ammonia and/or nitrite), you could use that 15l as a quarantine tank to ensure the newcomers are free of disease for at least two weeks.

I have two filters in my main tank the fluval 3+ and the fluval mini could i safely remove the fluval mini into the smaller tank without upsetting the main tank.

Ok ill wait two weeks. Thanks

I shall look up the spec of the Fluval Mini and get back to you with my findings, but I suspect that once you have two weeks of "double zeros" using both filters in your main tank, this mini filter could be fine for a small purchase of fish going in the 15l QT ;)
