I have one betta. As you know he is in a small bowl in other words. I would love to add him to my 20 gallon tank, but am scared that he will die. He is doing well and has for the passed 10 months. I currently have 2 zebra danions in the 20 gallon. Bad idea or good?

lmf, I can't wait to hear the responses! :alien: I had a betta a long time ago in a 20g along w/neon tetras, (3) Angel fish, a pleco and Tiger barbs (I believe, this was 12 yrs ago!). I also am setting up a new aquarium, either a 75g or a 90g. I love the beauty of the betta  (sounds like a love story, wait, maybe it is! :hyper: )

I definately want to do a betta again, but I also want Angels. From what I read so far, you can't have both. Someone please prove this wrong....oh yea, please help lmf on her questions too! (sorry, got on the soapbox..)

I have recently been given a betta which has gone into my community tank which includes zebra danios and he seems perfectly at home. If anything I'm impressed at just how active and inquistive he is - hes all over he tank.

So in short I don't see a problem - he will probably appreciate the room. Personally I don't like the idea of keeping these fish in small tanks/containers (any fish for that matter).jmho

:)

Watch out the aggression of the fish is vary variable from one betta to another, be cautious and keep an eye on it, WWW seemed to have a passive betta but yours may be more aggressive, take care and watch it for the first while after its in there.

Lmf, IME, a Betta will do ok in a community tank, as long as he percieves himself to be the "prettiest"... :D I had one in my 90, and he got along swell until I added two powder blue Gouramis.... :X oops..

i had my betta in my comunity tank, which include 2 angels they were fine
with him, sadly i only had him a few months then he just gave up eating
and then he died, there were no signs of illness, it was as if he just gave up on life, i have seen some realy beautiful bettas also the females
which around here are very hard to find, i am tempted to buy 1 male and 2
females, thinking that maybe this would work better than keeping 1 single male, any views on this,

Well we decided to add our betta to the tank. He has been in there for about 4 days. I have four zebra danions in there as well. They are babies though. So, everything seems to be going well.

I've read that it's best not to have the male and female in the same tank except when the female is ready to breed. I believe they will still fight even though they are the opposite sex.
