Hey there

I currently have a 10 gallon tank with 1 male pineapple swordtail, and 3 mollies (1 still a young adult, 1 dalmation, 1 sailfin). I used to have 2 swordtails but the one unfortunatly passed away and the other is very lonely and stressed without him. That being said, im going to purchase another swordtail...however I also wanted to get another mollie, because the male sailfin is a little aggressive twords the female dalmation so I wanted another gal to help calm him down a little

Is adding 2 more fish too much for my tank? It is fully cycled. I know the 1 inch of fish per 1 gallon rule but I just wanted to have some opinions. Thanks!

You could probably get away with 2 more fish but it will mean bigger water changes each week to keep the build of nitrates down.

I also have a ten gallon tank and personally I don't really use the inch per gallon rule. It's really a matter of common sense. If the tank looks like it's at capacity, it probably is. And if your fish are lonely I'd say get the other 2 fish. I only really use the rule as a guideline.
