I have had a pair of apatiogramma cacatuoides for about 4 months now but have been reading that they are better as a trio. I want to breed them and wanted to know would it be possible to add another female to the pair. They would be in a 110litre planted tank with a sand substrate. You can see a picture of my tank on my other posts.

There tank mates are
8 neon tetras
10 Cory's
5 honey gouramies

Also there are 2 coconut caves a big piece of rock and 2 pieces of bog wood in the tank that can be used as spawning sites and/or breaking line of sight.

All opinions welcome and thanks for the help from Tom

Unless your tank is very long and shallow, that is unless it has a big footprint for that volume, I personally would not get a second female. Yes, they are harem breeders in the wild, but I wouldn't keep a harem in a small tank. Mine is 125 litres and I won't have more than 1 female.

The tank footprint is
80 cm long
35 cm deep
45 cm high

What do you think about the footprint.

Also if I added 3 at the same time (if I did not have theses ones) would that work or would you still only have 2 in the tank. Thanks for all your help female is getting more yellow by the day from Tom

My tank is very slightly longer than yours and the same depth so a very similar footprint to yours. I would stick with just 1 female in your tank.

Ok thank you very much for your help from Tom
