I currently have a tetratech ex1200 filter in my tank. And now I want to add another could any one recommend another external? My tank only 240l I was thinking of adding another ex1200 but thought it might be overkill.

are you kidding?

ANY filter you add will be overkill.....what you have already is more than sufficient for your tank....

what exactly is the problem?

if your having some sort of water issue, more filters will not improve anything, chances are its a maintainance issue

I agree, No need for another filter. If you want more flow its powerhead time not filter.

It's the poo problem theres always loads of poo floating about. l have a 2500lph wave maker in the tank as well. And the battle with nitrate. I was going to add another filter and cram it with alphagrog and matrix. I have Purigen and alphagrog in the current filter. 70% of my fish are almost fully grown, so there is quite a heavy bio load.

I ran 2 ex1200s on my mbuna tank when they were in the 260. Because of the overstocking theres a heavy bioload. Not necessary but equally wouldnt do any harm. Means youre turning over almost 10x tank volume which is the reco on malawis

Thanks I think I may try one of the jbl e901 filters. Low power consumption and supposed to be really good.

i'd certainly add another filter if it were me, especially with Malawi, Adult Acei and labs are pretty big, got any pictures?

Here you go. I must invest in a proper camera.

totally disagree, you can never have to much filtration on a mbuna set up. i run a fx5 and the internal juwel filter on my 450 litre tank. the amount of waste you get two filters is recommend imo

looks nice, looks like you have something holding on the left in the fourth pic too

Not 100% certain but i'd say they have a bit of growing left in them still :)

I always got something holding. They've bred since I got them. Any way ive decided im going to get the eheim Ecco pro 300 as my additional filter. And fill it with alphagrog, matrix and Purigen.
