i have my 3 foot tank set up nicely now and this evening i will be getting some gravel from an established tank to help kick start the process. i have the amonia but no water testing kit that should be here at the end of the week maybe early next. i know its dificult to gague but i would like to start adding ammonia as soon as poss especially now i have some mature gravel to keep "feeding" any ideas on a sensible ammount of amonia to add to my tank? 3 foot x 12' x 15'

thanks guys!!

Try using the aquarium calculator at the top of the page

best way is to add 1ml at a time and test each time for concentration you are looking for arround 5ppm also best turn up the heater to 28*c

but at a guess 3-4ml is normally arround the correct dosage for that size of tank i added 5ml in my 4ft tank

I think they said they didn't yet have a test it, therefore needed an estimate.

really? 3-4ml's for a 3ft tank? I put 4mls in my 10 gallon! testing shows my ammonia levels at 2ppm!

Add 5.58 ml, and you should be good for a week.

It will probably take a week anyways for this first amount of Ammonia added to start to be processed, and by that time you should have your test kit. :hyper:

well unsure about you'r concentration of ammonia

i only ever put 6 ml's in my 4ft tank to bring it upto 5ppm

just looked at the calcultor above it would recomend for a 10 gal tank 2.3ml's
