Hi there.
I have a 3ft tank with 1 medium anglefish, 4 plates, 2 bristlenose catfish and 3 black widows.
A friend of mine needs to get rid of her 2 medium sized anglefish.
I was just wondering if it would be okay to add them to my current setup.
I know angelfish can get aggressive so just thought I'd get some opinions first.

Thanks

Whats the dimensions of the tank?

It may be a really bad idea especially with an odd number in the tank, if you get a mated pair in a tank of that size they very well may kill the third wheel angelfish.

Hi and welcome to the forum, firstly the tank isn't big enough for 3 angels I'm afraid. I have two adult angels in my 4ft and I wouldn't keep them in anything smaller. Secondly, the existing angel is highly unlikely to accept two new angels into it's territory. In fact it's more likely to attempt murder than allow them in.

If you want to take the angels from your friend I would consider getting yourself a larger tank (4ft minimum) and decorate it in a completely different style to your existing set up and then add all three angels at the same time. With a completely new enviroment your existing angel may well accept the two new one's and visa versa.
As you've rightly said, angels can be incredibly aggressive when the mood takes them and adding new angels to existing one's is something to avoid where possible. The only time I've heard of it working is when they are moved to a new tank

Hope that helps

I agree what what others have said, but I would caution on having three angelfish together whatever the circumstances.  Perhaps three females might decide to co-exist, but if one or two is male, this is very unlikely.  Angels should always either be in a group, five minimum (though sometimes four will work but not the best), or as a mated/bonded pair for breeding.  Single angelfish works, though I am not fond of keeping any fish contrary to its natural needs and this is a shoaling fish.
