Okay so I was doing my weekly water change as normal and mixing up the next batch of water when I thought I'd add a small drop of the fish cure we had. I thought hey ho it can't really do any harm and it might help the fish if there was a problem I'd missed. Now bearing in mind I mixed all this in a black bucket I failed to notice the water had turned green. :| I'd also added the last of my other water stuff so it wasn't an option to start again. I'd also already removed 20% of the water from the tank. So I went ahead and added the water even though really I knew it was a bad idea. Anyway now my tank is green it's about an hour in and I'm terrified of waking up to a dead tank if I'm honest. Is there anything I can do? Will it harm the fish? My obvious hope is basically frequent small water changes, I'm talking 5-10% every like 3 days? Maybe it will start to go. Just will it harm the fish really? Or should they be fine?

What exactly did you add? The name of this 'fish cure'?

Its prob not a great idea to add chemicals to the tank when theyre not needed, but i understand the idea ;) So how much did you put in? It says online that you should add 5ml per 20 litres (4.4 gallons) of aquarium water. Treatment should be repeated at weekly intervals. Prior to redosing, it is advisable to perform a 20-30% water change, using tap water conditioned with AquaSafe.

I agree. Don't add meds if you don't need them.
Also in my opinion tonic meds are a complete waste of money.

If the fish are not acting odd like darting, laboured breathing, I wouldn't worry.
Just keep a close eye on them.
If you are worried dilute the med down with a water change.

Well, if you've no more water dechlorinator you can either fill a bucket with water and let it stand overnight before doing a water change (some people do water changes without using dechlor but just allowing the water to slowly release the chemicals itself - never tried it personally LOL) or do what you suggested of small 10% water changes but daily.

I've never used that med and unsure what the effects of over-dosing are.

No, not a good idea to dose just for the sake of it. I mean, would you take paracetamol just in case you MIGHT get a headache, or would you drink cough medicine in case you MIGHT get a cough LOL

There are some medications (anti-bacterial) you can use when introducing new fish (or when in quarantine) but that's a different matter - with new fish you have no real idea if they are healthy or not.
