Add More?

My friend has a ~20 gallon and I wanted to give him some fish for his birthday. Here’s his stocking:

3 common goldfish (if that was my tank i would take out the goldies)

3 red-eyed tetras

2 big tetras (3-4-5 in.?) with red and black tails (unknown name)

3 neon tetras

2 x-ray tetras

1 common plec

1 glo light tetra

could i add more fish? What should I get? I was thinking glo fish.

whats he got in the tank?

others depending on what he already has.....
bright red is a <glo light tetra>

um..that list is his stocking. If thats what ur asking.

I'm not quite certain I understand the question. Are all those fish in a 20 gallon tank and you're asking if he can put more in? If so, then the answer is no as that tank is already severely overstocked.

Goldfish are massive waste producers so the first goldfish alone needs 20 gallons then 10 gallons for every other goldfish added.
So if he has three in the tank he needs 40 gallons.
Plus they need double the filter size to the tank because of the waste so that an 80 gallon filter.

Are you asking for your own tank or his Coz you've give your mates stocking and nelly was replying to that stock list

yeah, he does need to get rid of those goldfish

Even if he took out the goldies, he would still be overstocked with 11 tetras and the plec (the main problem besides the goldies). He definitely doesn't need any more fish and unless he has an extremely good maintenance system and extra filtration, he will eventually have problems with the stock he has.

Plus he's keeping the goldfish in tropical conditions when they are coldwater fish.
